Apk for apps
Apk for apps introduced a new feature in its phone last year called the Bixby routine, allowing you to set up simple automated rules for certain tasks – such as IFTTT, or a less powerful, built-in version for Samsung phones. Although it is available on devices Apk apps store such as the Galaxy S10, Note10 and Galaxy Fold, Samsung did not feature in the older Android S9 or Note9 in the recent Android 10 / One UI 2 update.
However, we have verified that sidelineing the latest version of the Bixby Routines app facilitates older devices including the Galaxy S9 and Note9, and also works for some older devices such as Android Pie running on the Apk for apps.
Galaxy S9 with Android 10 / One UI 2 installed without Bixby routine app (left) and installed with it (right). Note the addition of the “Bixby routine” toggles and settings.
Swinging this workaround is very easy: running Android 10 / One UI 2 on the Galaxy S9 or Note 9, just install the Bixby routine app from a trusted source like APK Mirror (a site we also run), and new Check the option in Settings -> Advanced Features. At the top, there should be a new option for the Bixby routine, which is enabled by default.
Tap the left side of that button (ie, not toggle), and you’ll be taken to a list of configurable settings that are similar to those given on the Galaxy S10 / Note 10, as far as we can tell.
The workflow is creating a new Bixby routine (in this case, to the tune of an automated gym).
The only substantial difference we can see is that you will need to manually add the Bixby routine quick settings if you want to use it; When you sideload the application in this way, it doesn’t appear on its own, but fixing it is as simple as “button order” via the three-dot menu in the corner of the fully expanded Quick Settings menu.

This method of rune has been tested and can confirm that it works on the device. Many of our readers and tipsters have also confirmed working on the Note 9. It’s possible that you may run into problems with it that you may not experience on officially supported devices, but as of now we can tell, it works fine.
It can also work on older devices running on Android 9 Pie, such as the Galaxy S8, although reports from our readers are mixed. For some, it seems to work without issue; Among other problems, apps are running in crashes.
Although Samsung has not explicitly stated whether or not the Bixby routines will come in older phones, there was a possibility that it could begin with the recent Android 10 update – an expectation that almost dashed without damage. . This was a very commonly requested feature, with no clear explanation for its absence on older devices.
It is unclear whether this new solution is an oversight or indication that the feature will later come into official capacity – there is clearly no software explanation to exclude it, as it works fine — but either, your Also Galaxy S9, Note9, and other older Samsung phones with single sideloaded apps can now use the Bixby routine.
